Spain Limits Medical Cannabis Prescriptions to Specialists and Restricts Use to Four Conditions

The Spanish Ministry of Health has published a draft decree establishing that only specialist doctors will be able to prescribe medical cannabis for the treatment of four diseases: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, and chemotherapy side effects. Cannabis preparations will only be available in hospitals in the form of standardized medicines, excluding the use of plant parts. The document is in the public consultation phase and will be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval once its review is complete.
